then the walls
For years Æmy Niafeliz worked in quiet, away from public view, the way old masters once did. A realist in temperament and technique, she paints in acrylic on canvas, wood and architectural surfaces, grounding her compositions in the real world. She is drawn to the precision she finds in nature, in people, in objects, in atmosphere, and her work avoids haste and spectacle. Each piece is a patient study of light and form, built around a story.
The stillness of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 pushed her to bring that work to the public. Her murals and paintings now appear indoors and out, sensitive to their surroundings and to the people who live among them. Collectors have noticed her craftsmanship and the contemplative feel in her work.
